How Saar aan Huis saved €40.5 million in avoidable societal cost

The Netherlands has 5.5 million informal carers, and 600,000 of them are severely overburdened, up from 400,000 a decade ago. MantelzorgNL calls it what it is: not a care problem, but a societal problem. This is exactly what our portfolio companySaar aan Huis is here to fix. 🙌
In 2025 alone, Saar aan Huis:
❤️ saved €40.5 million in avoidable societal costs by relieving 9k+ informal carers
❤️ freed up 250 FTE of formal care capacity by delivering care that otherwise would have been delivered by the formal care system
❤️ helped 4,500 clients live independently for longer
These numbers confirm our conviction from day one: investing in the right digital health solutions not only generates financial returns, but also helps keep our healthcare system affordable and accessible. More importantly, behind every number is a person. One family put it like this:
"𝘚𝘢𝘢𝘳'𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭-𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨."
And SaarCare is not the only one in our portfolio making a difference. Our Impact in Progress 2025 report covers ten companies in full. (scroll down to download)
Together they prevented €88.3 million in avoidable healthcare and societal costs in 2025 and recovered 1,015 full-time care workers' worth of capacity, with every number substantiated.
